THE ANCIENT WATCHERS
Protectors and Deities of the Abyss
In the ancient epochs of the Abyss, the first creations of Acerbus emerged as majestic beings known as the Ancient Abyssal Watchers. Crafted in Acerbus' original image, these formidable entities embodied a draconequus-like form, featuring elongated bodies, robust front paws, hooved hind feet, expansive wings, dragon-like horns, and fennec fox-shaped ears. Their appearance, resembling colossal dragons, carried an aura of strength and divine essence.
Origins and Roaming Lands:
Initially created to roam the lands in their original form, the Ancient Abyssal Watchers were solitary figures, exploring the nascent realms of the Abyss. Acerbus, in his wisdom, observed their potential as protectors and guardians for the emerging Abyssal communities.
Transition to Protectors:
As the population of newly created Abyssals increased, the Ancient Abyssal Watchers gracefully transitioned into the role of protectors. They ascended to watch over specific regions, soaring high above, and were soon revered as deities by the common Abyssal. Their imposing presence inspired both awe and respect among the inhabitants.
Guardians Against the War of Oblivion:
When the ominous specter of The War of Oblivion loomed over the Abyss, it was the Ancient Abyssal Watchers who sounded the alarm. Recognizing the impending threat, they led the troops of the Royal Guard into battle, their colossal forms soaring above the fray. Their strategic insight and formidable strength were instrumental in the defense against the corruption that threatened the very essence of the Abyss.
Rare Appearances and Festive Soaring:
While rarely seen in their true draconic form, the Ancient Abyssal Watchers do visit their assigned regions occasionally. During festivals or when offerings are placed at their shrines, they may manifest in a more common Abyssal form, allowing the community to connect with their divine protectors.
Symbol of Awe and Respect:
The Ancient Abyssal Watchers remain symbols of awe and respect within the Abyssal communities. Their enigmatic presence and occasional appearances serve as a reminder of the deep connection between the divine and mortal aspects of Abyssal life. The festivals celebrating their existence become moments of reverence and joy, as Abyssals honor their ancient protectors with offerings and celebrations that echo through the Abyss.
